Fall In Horicon National Wildlife Refuge!
Yes this past Sunday we went back to Horicon. This time I was able to see a lot more than the last time we went up there. I really enjoyed myself so much. Along HWY 49 we seen so many different wildlife animals, there was a field just full of so many different animals I just could not believe my eyes when I seen all of them. We did take pictures of the fields of the wildlife.
Then we went on the auto tour road and I was taking pictures of the Fall colors changing. The picture above is of the floating Boardwalk. This is so beautiful to walk and see. Sunday was the first time I was able to take this walk with Drew. I just could not believe my eyes when I seen this.
This is along the auto tour road. I had to stop and get this picture for everyone. The fall colors are starting to come in up north and it is so nice to see.
This is a pond on the side of the same road and you can see a swan in the water towards the top of the picture along with the flowers. I just could not believe my eyes when I seen the scenery it was so lovely and the swan in the pond just made it more beautiful.
This is the blanket of yellow flowers that I was talking about in my last post. It is just beautiful and it is along the floating Boardwalk. This is in a lot of the fields in Horicon. If you remember the first picture at the top of this post you see like a lookout tower that is were I took this picture.
This is down the road from the floating Boardwalk. It is two different ponds with all kinds of wildlife in them. This is towards the end of the auto tour road.
In the distance you can see the turbine's above the trees. Yes we were not that far away from them, we past them on the way down the road to the wildlife refuge. If you see the tops of the trees starting to change there colors it is so beautiful.
Along this road is a lot of different bike or hiking trails you can go down. In the spring I would love to go and walk the trails to be able to get the wildflowers just starting to bud. I will try to get back up that way to get the fall colors of the trees when they change the beautiful colors.
If you like to see the wildlife and the wildflowers this is the place to go and see it all. For me this is the best place to take a walk and see the beautiful land and how peaceful it is up there. It actually give you a true peace of mind how beautiful our land and wildlife really is. If it wasn't for Drew taking me there I would have never known how this really could make a person feel.

Flowers From Horican Marsh!
This past Saturday Drew, his son and I took a ride up north between Lomira and Fond Du Lac. We went to Horican Marsh Wildlife Refuge. The place is really huge it goes from just south of Fond Du Lac to down by a town call Theresa. We went to the north side of it to see what we could find between the wildlife and the wildflowers.
We took Hwy 41 to Cty Hwy 49. When you get off at Cty Hwy 49 you go left and you come to a lookout point. I pulled into the parking lot and seen so many different flowers. I could not believe this it was just so awesome. The flower above is an Orange Milkweed flower. This is just the start of what we seen out there.
As we walked the path I was just getting to see so many different flowers. It was so exciting to be able to see the different flowers. The one above is an Ironweed flower. I thought this one was just beautiful and I had to take a picture.
We also seen Purple and Yellow Cornflowers. It was like a blanket of different kinds of flowers out there. I have so many pictures of the Cornflowers that is why I just picked this one. I was in heaven with all the flowers out there.
This is a Golden Ragwort. Between the Golden Ragwort, the False Dandelion and the Tall Golden Rod you could see this for miles they just blanketed the prairie. It was just so beautiful to see that out there. It was just a gorgeous blanket of yellow flowers to see.The one below is a False Dandelion and below that is Tall Golden Rod.
Then we left this area and we drove down the road to a marsh. I was driving on the gravel along the road and water looking at the wildlife in the water. This was just as beautiful as looking at the prairie of flowers. I was so peaceful out there listening to the calls of the wildlife. It was about a mile of driving and stopping for pictures.
Along the way I could not pass up this picture of the Cattail above. The two different colors of brown and tan on it. That was just so different for me. The only ones I was seeing was brown and fuzzy around here. You would see the Cattails along the side of the road with different flowers. The flower below the Cattail is a Chicory, Cichorium Intybus. It is really nice to finally see a lot of different flowers and they are so beautiful.
Down the road I seen this purple flower then when we came up to the flower I seen it and said I don't have this flower in my wildflower folder. So I took a picture of Purple Prairie Clover with False Dandelions. That looks like a gorgeous bouquet of flowers.
Then we went further down the road I seen a sign to turn left for an auto tour that takes about a half hour. Well with us it was a lot longer than that. When we keep seeing different wildlife and wildflowers to take pictures.
We came along the auto trail to find this flower Late Purple Aster. It looks like a daisy because it is in the daisy family.
Going down the road we seen a lot of different birds flying across the road like a Cardinal, Swallows and Starlings. Drew had the binoculars and in the distant he saw a Bald Eagle out there. There are lots of walking trails and a Boardwalk. We got out of the car to go by the Boardwalk and when we came back to the car I told Drew we had to start heading home. We spent about three hours out there and I promised Drew we would go back there. This was just one little spot that we spent three hours at. More to come from Horicon Marsh.

Spring In Wisconsin Wildflowers 3!
Yes it has been a long time for me to get more of my wildflowers named. Last month and this month are really crazy times in this house. I have been going up north and then working, tomorrow I am going to get my granddaughter for the weekend.
I decided since I had today off of work to get some more pictures of my wildflowers posted for everyone.
I don't know if anyone knows right now we are in a drought here. All of the pictures I have taken in the spring that most of the flowers are gone already. We haven't had rain in about six weeks here. I am so glad we went out to get the pictures when we did.
This is a Compass Plant. It is really funny how we found this one. Drew had picked me up from work one day, we were going down Green Bay Rd. and Drew seen this flower and he turned the car around. We pulled on the side of the road so I could get a picture. At first we thought this was a Sunflower but then when I looked it up I found out it was a Compass Plant. If you look at the flower it is like a compass for the sun dial the way it is tilted up.
This is a Trumpet Creeper Vine. This is another really funny story how I got this picture. We had just left Sanders Park on our way home. On the corner by a stop light at Taylor and Wood Ave. I looked out my window and asked Drew what that was he said just a minute and turned the corner pulled by the curb so I could get a picture. I just could not believe this is growing on a electrical pole.
This is a Day Lily it was taken at Grant Park in South Milwaukee. Drew and I decided one day to take a trip out that way. We went for a walk by the beach and then Drew pulled on the side of the road at wanted to see if he could find any wildlife in the trees by the lake and he also found this flower for me. I noticed one thing with this flower, since we took the picture I have been seeing them all over now.
This is a Black Eyed Susan we seen it at Pritchard Park. Just driving through there looking around and I seen this so I took a picture of it. In this park we have seen baby Goslings so we would go and see how much they have grown.
These are Brown Eyed Susan taken at the Root River. Drew went for a walk here while I was at work one day and seen them. He took the picture for me. I was really surprised when I came home and he showed this picture to me.
I know some people get the two flowers mixed up. What I am talking about is the Black Eyed Susan and the Brown Eyed Susan. I almost did but then I looked how many pedals, the leaves and the difference with the brown center area of each flower. That is the only ways to figure out which one it is.
This is a Thistle Plant at Schoop Park. This was another day while I was at work and Drew went for a walk. This one was really hard to figure out what kind of plant it was. That is what happens when he goes for his walks and I am at work. But I do figure out what kind they are but it takes me awhile to do that. It is a very pretty plant too.
I hope you enjoy the crazy way we go out and look for wildflowers. I have to say one thing it is fun going out there and looking for the wildlife and the wildflowers. We take turns doing the driving and taking pictures. I hope all of you enjoy these pictures.
It will be awhile before I get to post anything on here. I will be getting my granddaughter for the weekend. Please feel free to leave any comments you would like. Thank you for reading this!♥

This is a Lily of the Valley. I really like this flower because it is very different and very pretty.
This is a Little Sweet Betsy Toadshape Trillium. This is really different and very hard to find the name of this flower.
This is a Robin's Plantain. Yes is some ways it does look like a daisy and also pretty.
This is a Sharp Lobed Hepatica. This flower was really hiding and I almost missed it in between bushes.
This is a Small Red Morning Glory Redstar Starflower. Yes a long name for this one. It is also a vine that is growing on a bush. This was at the beginning of the park and I seen it as we came into to the park. I had to have this picture.
This is Wild Rhubarb. I could not believe I seen this in the park and so much of it. I do have a picture of just a leaf and I think some of the leaves are about two feet long.
I know there are a lot of pictures but I just wanted to share them all with you. I hope you enjoy the pictures just as much as I am enjoying going and taking them. You are more than welcome to leave any comments!♥

Spring In Wisconsin Part 2!
I was driving through town around three different detours of construction to go and pick up Drew from work and one day on the way I seen this. I just had to take a picture of it for a post. This was on Carlton Dr.. The first time when I past it I didn't have my camera with me and then I said to myself I have to keep the camera with me. I pointed this out to Drew when I was taking him to work one morning. He can't figure out what they are suppose to be. Both the top picture and the bottom are from the same house.
In the top picture I know there is a frog's head in the middle and I don't know what the other two are. The bottom picture the first one looks like a dinosaur and the middle looks like a bear or dog. I really like this it is really something different.
This is a lilac bush we seen this while driving around. This picture was taken on 16th st. last month. I have seen lilac bushes on 4 mile rd. too. Then when I went past them yesterday and all the flowers are off of the bush already. I just couldn't believe that with in a month the flowers came off the bush. I love the smell of the lilac flowers in the summer.
We went walking one day through Shoop Park. I came across this bush and I thought it was really pretty so I took a picture of it. Come to find out during my search on the computer this is a Climbing Prairie Rose. I thought this was a good picture with all the buds on the branches too. I am sorry that the picture is a little out of focus.
I am really having fun taking the pictures and sharing them with everyone. I do hope all of you are enjoying this right along with me. I do have a lot more to look up and post for you. The hard part is when I am out trying to remember all the pictures I have taken already. Feel free to leave any comments!♥

Spring In Wisconsin Wildflowers!
This part is pictures I have taken from up north over the weekend. It is pictures of wildflowers and the names of them. I was able to get these pictures in between getting wildlife pictures, visiting Drew's family, cookout by my son on Saturday for Mother's Day and my older daughters graduation.
Yes while driving around looking for wildlife I was looking for the wildflowers so I could get pictures of them. Drew's mom showed some of them to me by their house that she has coming up too. I was having fun walking around the yard and taking pictures of the flowers with his mom. Then she showed me a wildflower book she has so we could look up the names of the flowers. I could not believe how many different wildflowers that are out there.
This is a Bird-Foot Violet. This was found up north by Drew's mom and dad's house. This has the larger blossom of the wild violets. They are a very pretty violet flower too.
This a Broom Snakeweed flower. This is really different and hard to find the name but a very pretty flower. This was also found by Drew's parents house. I found out on the computer that this can come in a bush of flowers or in singles.
This is a Wood Violet it was also found in the yard of Drew's parents. This violet can be found all over the world. It is a very common flower. I have not seen this violet down here at all and we have been driving around all over down here.
This flower is a Trillium. Yes this is a very common flower are here but this was taken in the driveway of Drew's parents. Driving around up north you will see these flowers and it looks like a very light blanket of snow with these flowers on the side of the roads. They are a very pretty flower.
This flower is a Viola Sororia it is in the family of the Violets. This is also Wisconsin's State Flower. This flower comes in many different colors. They are also a family of the Pansy being tri-colors. This is another flower found by Drew's parents house. The flower below is another Viola Sororia that I had taken. I just wanted you to see the different colors of them.
Yes all the pictures here was up north when we visited Drew's parents. We had a really nice visit with them and I really enjoyed walking around the yard looking at the different wild flowers they have growing. I already miss being up that way with it being so quiet and just driving around on the country roads. Yes I also miss the families. I did get to see my granddaughter that is another post by itself of some pictures of her. I hope you all enjoy these pictures just as much as I enjoyed taking them!♥

Spring In Wisconsin!
I was talking this over with Drew telling him I wanted to do something really different on my blog. I wanted to let everyone know what different kinds of trees, wildflowers and plants are around Wisconsin. I am not going to be posting all the pictures in one post, it will be in very many different posts as I go out and get the pictures.
Drew and I like to go out for drives around are area. We are also going to be going up north by our families to visit so I will be taking some more pictures from up there also. I am having fun getting this going and probably making Drew crazy with doing this also. When we are out driving I see something I would like to take a picture of and I tell him to stop.
Drew is also doing something different on his blog it is about wildlife around here. I can't wait to see how he gets his going. I know that is going to be really good. We are both taking pictures for each other. So some of the pictures are going to be by him or I. Believe me I will not remember what pictures are from him or I.
This is at Pricthard Park. With the fountain there are Crimson King Maple Purple Leaf Trees. I really like this picture with the fountain.
This was taken by Drew's work while I was waiting for him to come out. This is a Cherry Blossom Tree. When I am sitting in the car waiting for him to come out of work I always see the birds in the tree.
This picture is of a Sargent Crab Apple Tree. This was taken right outside our place. Yes I get to see this beautiful tree every day and the birds in it too.
This picture was taken on Four Mile Rd. on my way to pick Drew up from work. This is a Weeping Cherry Tree. I thought it was really pretty.
This is the start of my post and I really hope everyone enjoys this. I am having fun going around and getting the pictures to share with all of you. Feel free to leave your comments and I will read them.
Have a great day to all of you!♥
